Bakary Sambe
Bakary Sambe is the Director of the Timbuktu Institute - African Center for Peace Studies, located in Dakar. He is a teacher-researcher at the Centre d'étude des religions (CER) of the Université Gaston Berger de Saint-Louis - UFR CRAD (in Senegal) and holds a doctorate from the Université Lumière Lyon 2 (IEP) in Political Science and International Relations. He is the founder of the Observatory of Radicalisms and Religious Conflicts in Africa. His current work focuses on transnational networks, Islam in Arab-African relations, and Islamic radicalization and militancy in the Sahel. He is an expert for the United Nations, the European Union and the African Union, and participated in the creation of the G5 Sahel Joint Force Unit for the fight against extremism.
He accompanies public authorities in the making of national strategies to fight radicalisation in the region(G5 Sahel CELLRAD).
